The main objective of the project envisaged by Nakheel is to build a “World’s First” purpose-built City for the “Global Maritime Community”.
The entire development consists of the following:
Maritime Centre, Harbour Offices, Harbour Residences, Academic Quarter, Marine District and Industrial Precinct. The project was awarded to AWAJ on October 2005 by DMCA, to design and monitor construction development in the Industrial Precinct.
The Industrial precinct will be the premier destination providing ship repair and maintenance, along with yacht repair and manufacturing. Workshops, shops, showrooms and warehouses within industrial precinct will serve the needs of the maritime industry as a whole. Considering high rise building development near by, good architectural image was of prime importance.
