Scope: Design & Supervision

The VIVA Distribution Centre was commissioned for design in mid-2021, on plot no. S60323 in Jebel Ali South industrial area. The plot is owned by M/s RNA Resources Group Limited operating as Landmark Group. The given plot already had another Distribution Centre called Omega DC, exclusively for Landmark Group (LMG) retail verticals. The given DC (Distribution Centre) called VIVA DC is designed for exclusive use of VIVA Supermarkets in UAE.

After obtaining the first BP and issuing first OFC set in Feb 2022, The Client revised some requirements of VIVA DC in the 4th Quarter of 2022 causing to increase the BUA to 49,820 Sq. Mts. and the revised BP was obtained in February 2023. Construction was commissioned in 2nd Quarter of 2023.

The VIVA DC comprises of four primary areas or Zones,

  1. A Cold Storage measuring approx. 7600 m2 having internal compartments based on storage types (freezer, eggs, meat, poultry, fruits & vegetables, etc) maintained at various requisite temperatures ranging from -24OC to 12OC. This section also houses a Meat processing area where manpower is employed to process meats in required packaging for Supermarkets. The Cold Storage has a shell in shell concept where the inner sheet is made with specialised flat panels, each approx.. 200 thick, with a similar false ceiling. The cooling is done through an exclusive ammonia-based chiller plant room, housed in an ancillary services structure. The Cold storage has an exclusive one-sided marshalling area complemented with specialised dock shelters that ensure minimal or zero loss of cooling while docking.
  2. Besides the Cold Store is a general store measuring approx. 27,570 sq. mts, having incoming and outgoing marshalling areas and provided with dock levelers on either side. This shall be used to store non-perishable supermarket items likes soaps, napkins, cereals, etc. the area shall be cooled by existing chillers installed to cool existing Omega DC.
  3. The VIVA DC has an exclusive waste packaging recycling area where plastic, cardboard and wooden packing materials shall be compressed using special compactors for recycling.
  4. The VIVA DC has a 3 storied office and staff area comprising of medical facilities, prayer rooms, rest area, change rooms, offices, etc.

 

About 111 trucks can dock simultaneously on dedicated docking provisions attached to various zones of the VIVA DC. An ancillary building that houses services such a Substation, LV room, Chiller plants is provided besides. An exclusive bridge connects the VIVA DC to the existing parking area, to allow pedestrians to reach for work without crossing the truck pathways.
